GeoDesign , Inc. was formed in January 1995 by Senior Principals Theodore (Ted) von Rosenvinge, P.E., and Ulrich LaFosse, P.E. An office was opened in Middlebury , Connecticut , and from the beginning, the focus of the firm has been to provide quality geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering consulting services for the design and construction industry.

Three additional principals have been added since the founding of the company. In Autumn 1995, John Lens, P.E. joined GeoDesign. The addition of John expanded the firm's presence in northern New England through the establishment of an office in Windsor , Vermont .

Timothy Carr, LEP, joined the firm in August 1996 and was soon named Manager of Environmental Services.

Tim's regulatory experience and environmental background, combined with GeoDesign 's engineering approach, create effective solutions to our client's environmental needs.

William Frank, P.E. joined GeoDesign in December 1999. Bill's structural engineering background has expanded the firm's ability to service its clients, especially contractors.

Today, GeoDesign has grown to a staff of 30 in four offices, including more than 10 registered professional engineers.

GeoDesign has been retained as a consultant for hundreds of projects, including commercial/industrial buildings, high-rise buildings, health care facilities, public and private schools, highways, bridges, dams, excavations, dewatering,

geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring, blasting evaluations, pre-blast surveys, design of foundation and slope repairs, and sites requiring environmental restoration. We have special expertise with deep foundations, design of excavation support systems, rock blasting, and ground improvement techniques.

Our environmental services include Phase I, II and III site assessments, RCRA closure plans and implementation, underground tank removals, asbestos surveys and management plans, and environmental regulatory compliance.
