We seek team-oriented, energetic self-starters to join GeoDesign, Inc. at all levels in our CT, VT and NYC offices for the following positions.

  • Environmental Project Manager (CT) - BS in Environmental Engineering or related Science required, manage Phase I/II/III environmental assessments, knowledge of Connecticut Remediation Standards required, excellent communication skills required.
  • Senior Geotechnical Engineer (NYC and VT) - we have a special need as we seek a senior geotechnical engineer to lead selective projects and the development of our client base in these markets. 
  • Geotechnical Engineer (CT) – We have an excellent opportunity for a candidate with strong skills and intuition in soil and rock mechanics, foundations, soil-structure interaction, dam engineering, construction practices, and management experience. Project work includes all aspects of consulting, design, explorations, forensic investigations, construction support, and project management. Excellent communication skills are required.
  • Engineer (VT) - MS in geotechnical, geological or geostructural engineering with 0-1 years experience for field engineering on construction and exploration assignments with frequent travel.  Requires strong communications skills.

Ideal candidates will be positive, creative and team-oriented, with a minimum BS degree in Civil Engineering.  For geotechnical candidates an MS in Geotechnical Engineering is desired.  Professional registration or ability to obtain such is required.

Co-op/Internship Program

We are always looking for students interested in gaining experience through internships or co-op employment. We have employed students from many prominent colleges and universities throughout New England.

Several of the students who have successfully completed co-op assignments with the firm have returned to GeoDesign as full-time employees following graduation.

We can provide practical experience to students interested in geotechnical, geo-structural and environmental disciplines within the fields of civil engineering and geo-science.

Geotechnical Project Manager

GeoDesign’s Geotechnical Project Manager should expect to:

  1. Have frequent client contact and must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of staff and management.

  2. Execute a wide range of geotechnical design assignments.  Typical assignments may include: developing and managing geotechnical explorations programs; design of earth-retaining structures; slope stability analysis; design of ground improvement; design of underpinning; foundation design; settlement analyses; liquefaction analyses; seismic evaluation, and development of plans and specifications.

  3. Define project scopes with clients and/or GeoDesign principals; prepare proposals, provide daily financial, managerial and technical oversight of projects to achieve successful project completion and client satisfaction.

  4. Engage in career advancement and professional development through frequent peer/mentoring training, and attendance at professional and technical seminars.

  5. Provide professional guidance and technical expertise to junior staff for their career advancement and training.

  6. Develop geotechnical recommendations for design and construction of private and public projects.  Supervise technical staff performing specific field, analytical, and project administrative responsibilities under your general direction. 

  7. Supervise technical staff performing fieldwork activities such as logging subsurface explorations, observing and documenting deep and shallow foundation installation, earthwork operations, and substructure construction.

  8. Acquire the experience, technical skills, and management capacity to execute larger and more complicated projects.

  9. Supervise technical staff performing specific field, analytical, and project administrative responsibilities under your general direction.

  10. Be capable of well-developed interpersonal and presentation skills;

  11. Be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic and diverse environment;

  12. Be open to learning all company services and providing input to business development and corporate leadership.

  13. Be positive, creative and team-oriented.  Enjoy learning and sharing knowledge with others for the success of the company.

Qualifications

Required education/experience: B.S. degree in Civil Engineering (required), M.S. degree (preferred) in Geotechnical or Environmental Engineering; P.E. registration (or ability to obtain); a minimum of ten years professional experience, and hands-on field experience (preferred).

Candidate must be able to carry equipment up to 50 lbs, have a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and a dependable vehicle.  Assignments are typically within commuting distance.  Occasional overnight travel may be required.

  4. Acquire the experience, technical skills and management capacity to execute larger and more complicated projects.

  5. Develop geotechnical recommendations for construction for private and public projects will be necessary. Perform fieldwork activities such as logging subsurface explorations, observing and documenting deep and shallow foundation installation, earthwork operations, and substructure construction.

  6. Perform geo-structural and/or structural analysis/design of permanent and temporary structures including step-by-step demolition and/or erection sequencing in conformance with applicable codes (e.g. AASHTO, AREMA, ACI, IBC).

  7. Prepare contractor design submittals including working drawings and supporting design calculations.

  8. Perform specific field, analytical, and project administrative responsibilities under general direction from project management.

  9. Be capable of well-developed interpersonal and presentation skills;

  10. Be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic and diverse environment;

  11. Be open to learning all company services and providing input to business development, and

  12. Be positive, creative and team-oriented.  Enjoy learning and sharing knowledge with others for the success of the company.
